Dehradun: Women’s Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of the viral video of beating of two teenage girls in Kapkot of Bageshwar. Commission President Kusum Kandwal spoke to the Superintendent of Police of Bageshwar over the phone and gave instructions for strict action against the accused.
In the video, four youths are seen brutally beating two teenage girls and abusing them. The Commission President said that this incident is very serious and worrying that such cases are coming to light even in remote and rural areas of the hills.
Superintendent of Police Chandrashekhar told her that on the complaint of the family, a case has been registered under POCSO and two accused have been arrested. The remaining two accused will be arrested soon. Counseling of both the victim girls has been done.
Instructions to remove the video from social media
The Commission President directed that this cruel video should be removed from social media immediately so that the teenage girls do not have to face identification related problems in future. The Chairman said that by committing this type of crime and uploading the video on social media, the accused have worked to promote criminal mentality in the society.
