The International President’s Cup and the Fourth Tehri Water Sports-2025 Cup held at Tehri Lake concluded with a grand haul. The Indian team emerged victorious, winning a total of 47 medals, including 18 gold medals. Serbia finished second with a total of seven medals, including five gold, and Kazakhstan finished third with 10 medals, including four gold.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honored the winning athletes and teams with medals. The CM stated that Tehri Lake has now become an international adventure sports destination. In the coming days, water sports competitions from Asian, Commonwealth, and Olympic Games will also be held at this lake.
At the closing ceremony of the Sports-2025 Cup held in Kotikaloni on Sunday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the state government is implementing several schemes centered on Tehri Lake. The ADB-assisted Tehri Lake Project, worth over โน1,200 crore, will transform the region. The government is developing a sports ecosystem. He stated that India won a record 107 medals at the recent Asian Games in China. The Modi government has tripled the sports budget. The government has transformed Uttarakhand into a sports land, both Devbhoomi and Devbhumi. “We organized the 38th National Games very well,” he said.
Tehri also hosted the National Games very well. The government is developing world-class sports infrastructure in the state. The government has implemented a new sports policy, jobs for medal winners, the Devbhoomi Dronacharya Award, and a 4% quota for sports in employment. The Chief Minister stated that work on a medical college in Tehri is underway. Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal stated that Tehri Lake is becoming a hub for tourism and adventure sports. MLA Kishore Upadhyay highlighted several other demands, including the Tehri Medical College included in the Chief Minister’s announcement.
