In this same city, in 2001, a small child was kidnapped in broad daylight by criminals while going to school.

Muzaffarpur was in rage: Golu was kidnapped in 2001, and his body was later recovered. The kidnappers demanded money from his family. This case shook the entire Bihar. The discovery of the child’s body roused the residents of Muzaffarpur.
What happened that day?: On September 20, 2001, Golu was on his way to school with his two sisters. In broad daylight, criminals forcibly abducted him from a rickshaw in the Jail Road area and took him away in a Maruti. Following Golu’s abduction, a kidnapping sensation swept the entire area. The police were also engaged in a search for him. Meanwhile, Golu’s body was found on September 25, 2001, four days after the kidnapping. Family members identified the child by his clothes. Following the incident, angry people took to the streets, and violence erupted. At that time, politicians invariably mentioned this incident when discussing Bihar’s jungle raj. This brutal incident put the then Bihar government in the dock.
Arrest in 2024: Years later, in 2024, the police achieved a major breakthrough in this case. Notorious criminal Amit Kumar was arrested. Amit had been absconding for a long time and was wanted in several cases.
