Kolkata: Assembly elections are imminent in West Bengal. In view of this, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be visiting the state on February 18th. However, he will attend a special event at the ISKCON temple in Mayapur. BJP leaders, however, say there are no political events this time.
According to the schedule, Amit Shah will land at Kolkata airport on Wednesday at 1:35 pm by a special flight. From there, he will fly directly to Mayapur in Nadia by a BSF helicopter. Shah will attend the ISKCON event there from 2:25 pm to 4:25 pm.
It is reported that he will first visit ISKCON’s Shankha Bhavan and then Padma Bhavan. During this time, he is expected to have a special meeting with saints. After this, the Home Minister will attend the 152nd birth anniversary of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur. After the event, he is scheduled to return to Delhi.
It’s worth noting that Amit Shah previously visited the state on January 31st. He attended a workers’ conference at Anandpuri Maidan in Barrackpore, North 24 Parganas. Speculation continues in political circles about his sudden visit to Mayapur. Although the official program does not mention any party meeting or political event, curiosity about such a visit ahead of the elections is high.
The Nadia district administration and police are already on high alert for the Union Home Minister’s visit. Security is being increased at the temple complex, and officials have completed several rounds of checking. Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is visiting Kolkata on February 22nd. According to BJP sources, she will be the keynote speaker at a conference with the Mahila Morcha and ordinary women at the Science City Auditorium.
The BJP has repeatedly raised the issue of women’s safety in Bengal. In this context, those in the know believe this conference holds political significance. She is scheduled to return to Delhi in the afternoon after the event. Not just Shah and the Delhi Chief Minister, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is also scheduled to visit Bengal this week.
As a result, the arrival of senior BJP leaders in late February will raise the political temperature in the state. Ahead of the elections, political circles are now focusing on the impact the saffron camp can have on various issues, such as religious platforms and women’s safety.
