Nainital: Weather changed in Kumaon of Uttarakhand. Since this morning, it has been raining intermittently in Nainital, Haldwani, Udham Singh Nagar, Pithoragarh, Almora and Bageshwar districts. Cold has started increasing in hill districts including Nainital. Farmers are troubled by rain and hailstorm. Farmers are facing a lot of loss due to hailstorm along with torrential rain.
People have got relief from heat due to 25 mm rain in Tanakpur of Champawat district. One mm rain has occurred in Champawat headquarters. People have breathed a sigh of relief due to rain. On Wednesday, there was heavy rain with hail at around 10.30 am while it also rained in the early morning. At the same time, rain has been continuing in Khatima since this morning. There is a problem of clogged drains and mud at some places in Khatima market area.
Heavy hailstorm in Bhawali and Ghorakhal tea garden has caused a lot of damage to tea leaves. Tea garden manager Naveen Chandra Pandey said that due to heavy hailstorm, there is a possibility of 30 to 35 percent damage to the green leaves of Ghorakhal tea garden. Hailstorm has also occurred in Bhawali, Padampuri, Dhari.
The hailstorm that occurred at 2 pm on Wednesday in Bhimtal has damaged the crops of farmers. Farmers were also surprised to see the size of the hailstones. Farmers said that the size of the hailstones was from 50 grams to 100 grams. He said that due to the falling of such big hailstones, the crops of capsicum, tomato, bean, potato planted in the fields have suffered heavy damage. Farmer Lalit Pandey said that the hailstorm has caused financial loss to the farmers.
