Today, the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 will be introduced in the Lok Sabha. On the Waqf Amendment Bill, Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said, “Today is a historic day. The Waqf Amendment Bill will be introduced in the Lok Sabha today. This bill is being brought in the national interest. Not only crores of Muslims but the whole country will support it… Those who are opposing it are opposing it for political reasons. I will put forth arguments in the House. I also want that if someone is opposing, he should oppose it on the basis of logic and we will answer each argument. We are bringing this bill very thoughtfully and with preparation… India has the highest number of poor Muslims in the world, which our government and PM Modi are concerned about… This is in the national interest and I will request all political parties to support it…”
On the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024, BJP MP and Chairman of the JPC Committee on Waqf (Amendment) Bill, Jagdambika Pal said, “This hard work has paid off… We (JPC Committee) had visited South India regarding this bill. We could not visit North India… Parliamentary Affairs Minister had told us that it is our intention that you should go to every state of the country… All the leaders were also present in the meetings held every day and today the government is coming with this bill in a revised form. This is definitely a historic day… Today, with the passing of this bill, the poor, Pasmanda and common Muslims of the country will benefit from it…”
