Haridwar: A heart-wrenching incident came to light in Jwalapur Kotwali area on Sunday afternoon. Between Bhagat Singh Chowk and Sector-2 barrier, a middle-aged woman and a man laid down on the railway track in front of the Vande Bharat Express train and gave up their lives. Both could not be identified. The loco pilot of the train informed the police about the incident.
According to the police, the incident took place on Sunday afternoon at around 12:15. Vande Bharat Express train was going towards Haridwar station. Suddenly a woman and a man standing near the railway line between Bhagat Singh Chowk and Sector-2 barrier lay down on the track and both died after being hit by a high-speed train. As soon as the information about the incident was received, SP City Pankaj Gairola, Jwalapur Kotwal Amarjeet Singh, GRP SO Anuj Singh reached the spot. The police took possession of both the bodies and tried to identify them, but both could not be identified. After this, the mutilated bodies were sent to the mortuary of the district hospital.
SP City said that after the incident, GRP SO Anuj Singh talked to the loco pilot of Vande Bharat Express, Brijmohan Meena. The loco pilot informed that before the train arrived, a man and a woman were standing near the railway line. As soon as the train came near, first the man lay down in front of the train and then the woman also came and lay down. Due to the speed of 90 kilometers per hour, it was difficult to stop the train. Both were hit by the train. Jwalapur Kotwal Amarjeet Singh said that the age of both the deceased is around 50 years. Efforts are being made to identify both of them. Only after identification, the story of the whole case will come to the fore.

The police tried to get information about the incident from the eyewitnesses present around the incident spot. Some people had only seen both of them going towards the railway line. Now the police will try to identify them by locating them with the help of CCTV cameras installed nearby and connecting the further links.
