Dehradun/Haldwani: Congress state president Karan Mahara has returned from the disaster-hit area Dharali. Today, while giving information about the situation in Dharali, he has demanded the government to immediately release the list of hotels and homestays destroyed in the Dharali disaster. He has also demanded the release of the data of how many people have been killed in this disaster.
Karan Mahara said that it has been 5 days since the incident. Now the government must have received the list of people missing in this terrible disaster. Now the public also wants to know how many local people, workers and travelers from outside would have gone missing in the disaster? Karan Mahara alleged that journalists who showed the good work of the government were sent to the disaster-hit area by helicopter, while journalists who showed the truth were stopped for three days.
He said that when the disaster occurred in Kheerganga, clouds burst in Harshil village and other places on the same day. In which more than 9 soldiers and other people went missing. While praising the work of the rescue team, he thanked the army and the agencies deployed in the disaster. He said that he came to share the grief of the families affected by the Dharali accident. Recently he reached ground zero. There was no arrangement for food and water here. Local people are demanding to be displaced. Karan Mahara has also targeted the government regarding Ghaam Tapo tourism. He said that the residents of the Mukhwa village where the Prime Minister had gone and talked about Ghaam Tapo tourism boycotted the Panchayat elections. Now the people there are raising the slogan of Ghaam Tapo BJP.
Mentioned Limchagad: He said that Dharali is 35 km from Limchagad bridge located on Gangotri Highway. The distance to and fro is 70 km. In such a situation, we reached the village by walking 50 km. On the way back, we brought back 40 to 50 people through this walking route. Those who were not able to get helicopter facility. Karan Mahara said that while he was walking on foot, the BJP state president was busy in inducting Congress leaders into his party. Sweets were being distributed at the BJP headquarters during the disaster. Efforts were being made to induct the outgoing district president of Uttarkashi and his colleagues involved in many scams into the party.
Leader of Opposition also raised questions: The opposition has raised questions on the Dharali disaster. Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya expressed grief over the Dharali disaster and said that the Dharali disaster is a sad event for the state. People have suffered heavy losses in this disaster. He said that everything of the people has been destroyed in the disaster but the state government is rubbing salt on their wounds by giving them a cheque of only ₹5000 in the name of relief amount. Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya said that when the Congress government was in power, during the disaster, the victims were compensated for their losses only on affidavits. Instead of providing relief to the victims of the disaster, the BJP government is rubbing salt on their wounds. He said that the way people have suffered, their entire life’s earnings have been lost, in such a situation the government should help them.
