Uttarkashi: After the Dharali disaster, half of the highway near Limchagad near Gangani on the Gangotri highway was washed away. After which BRO is rapidly doing the valley bridge construction work. On Sunday, pedestrian movement has started on the valley bridge. The administration is claiming to open it for vehicular movement by late evening. At the same time, BRO is claiming to open the Gangotri highway in three to four days.
After the Dharali disaster, the Gangotri highway was blocked at places like Sonagad, Dabrani, Harshil, Dharali etc. The Gangotri highway has been closed for the sixth day. Due to which the people of Harshil area are facing huge difficulties. At the same time, people are reaching the district headquarters by walking several kilometers away when the road is broken. However, the administration is taking the pilgrims and local people stranded there to Matli and Chinyalisaur through heli service. Some local people are reaching the district headquarters on foot.
On August 5, the water level of Bhagirathi river had increased due to Dharali disaster. Due to which about 250 meters of highway between Dabrani and Songad was washed out. Half of the highway near Limchagad near Ganganani was also washed away. Here BRO has prepared a valley bridge. Which has been opened for pedestrian movement. Till now there is no movement of vehicles on this bridge.
DM Prashant Arya said that the valley bridge at Limchagad near Ganganani has been opened for pedestrian movement. It will probably be opened for vehicles by late evening. At the same time, it may take three to four days between Dabrani and Songad.
Let us tell you that on August 5 afternoon at around 1.30 pm, there was a sudden flood of water along with debris from the hill in Kheerganga, which destroyed the entire market in a moment. The flood of water and debris came down so fast that people did not even get a chance to run away. In a moment, the entire market was buried under a pile of debris.
