Chamoli (Uttarakhand): A unique blend of winter tourism and spiritual experience is now available at the Timmersain Mahadev Cave in the Niti Valley in Chamoli district. Located near the India-China border, Baba Barfani’s darshan is available from December to March in this natural cave. Following the recent heavy snowfall last month, a Shivalinga carved out of ice has emerged, becoming a special attraction for devotees and tourists.
Tourists enjoying winter tourism in Auli during Christmas and New Year can now include this natural cave in the Niti Valley in their itinerary. To reach the Timmersain Mahadev Cave, located near Niti village at the end of the Dhauli Ganga Valley, approximately 70 km from Auli and Joshimath, one has to trek three kilometers from the Joshimath-Malari Highway. A hub of spiritual experience: The ice Shivalinga of Baba Barfani in the Timmersain Mahadev Cave is reminiscent of Baba Amarnath. Tourists and devotees say that visiting the cave provides a profound spiritual peace that is difficult to describe. Following the first snowfall of the season, the weather in Niti Valley has remained pleasant, attracting a large number of tourists. Travel routes and facilities: To reach Niti Valley, trains are available from Delhi to Haridwar or Rishikesh. After reaching Haridwar or Rishikesh, tourists can reach Joshimath by bus or taxi. Niti village is approximately 80 km from there. Transportation facilities are available along this route, making it easy for tourists to travel to the valley. A Perfect Winter Destination: The snow-capped Niti Valley and Timmersain Mahadev Caves have become ideal winter destinations for New Year’s and Christmas.
