The youth of Uttarakhand have brought honor to the state on numerous national and international platforms through their talent. Therefore, we now need to harness this youthful energy and provide them with a positive direction so that they can contribute significantly to social and nation-building. If channeled properly, youthful energy can prove to be the greatest asset for the development of the country and society, enabling positive change, progress, and advancement. Furthermore, this energy can create new employment opportunities.
In the state’s 25-year history, there have been numerous occasions when youth have achieved significant success through their energy and talent. However, most of these youth, driven by a desire for a comfortable life and self-reliance, have left the state and the country. In the coming years, to harness the youth’s energy and talent within their own state, the government must promote education, skill development, and self-employment, enabling them to contribute to the state’s social, economic, and cultural development. Their creative and positive thinking should be utilized to solve the state’s problems. Additionally, to nurture their talents, they must be provided opportunities and platforms in fields like sports, arts, and culture. Instead of protesting on the streets for their rights, employment, and facilities, they should be encouraged to do so.
The government and youth must pay attention to these things.
Dr. Swati Bisht, Director of the Training and Placement Department at Doon University, said, “The government must focus on youth skill development. Currently, there is a deep gap between education and skills. Special programs should also be organized for youth counseling. Youth must focus on their careers while boosting their self-confidence. They must also enhance their adaptability. Furthermore, they must step out of the virtual world, understand the real world, and take steps towards self-employment.”
These youth have enhanced the state’s prestige.
Uttarakhand’s youth have distinguished themselves in fields like sports, education, cinema, and health. To cite a few recent examples, spinner Sneh Rana, who was part of India’s women’s world champion team, not only led the team to victory with her stellar performance. Similarly, Pragya Joshi of Rishikesh created history by winning a medal at the World Jujitsu Championship. Meanwhile, Radhika Thapa not only made history with her impeccable shooting but also brought honor to the state by winning a gold medal. This year, Uttarakhand’s youth also made their mark in the Union Public Service Commission’s Civil Services Examination-2024. Saloni Gautam of Doon, Shilpa Chauhan of Tyuni, Anupriya of Lohaghat, Anju Bhatt and Tushar Dobhal of Tehri, Arpit Kumar of Roorkee, Gaurav Chhimwal of Ranikhet, Akshat Kutiyal of Dharchula, and many others were successful in this examination. Meanwhile, at the 69th National Film Awards this year, Tehri’s daughter Srishti Lakhera’s film, “Ek Tha Gaon,” was selected for the Best Non-Feature Film award. Chef Madhav Bahuguna, also a resident of Tehri, is bringing fame to the state with his culinary expertise in America.
