The lack of rain and snowfall in Uttarakhand is directly impacting temperatures. A dry, biting cold is prevailing across the state. While mountainous regions are experiencing cold waves and frost, the plains are grappling with dense fog.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for dense fog on January 10th for the plains districts of Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar, and Haridwar, as well as Nainital, Champawat, and Pauri. However, sunshine during the day in the hilly areas is providing some relief from the cold.
Looking ahead, the weather is expected to remain dry across the state until January 15th. On Friday, the maximum daytime temperature in Dehradun was recorded at 22.8 degrees Celsius, 3.5 degrees above normal. The minimum night temperature, however, was 4.6 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal. Similar conditions prevailed in other parts of the state
