After a long wait, snowfall finally occurred in the higher reaches of the state, and its effects were felt in the plains. In the capital city of Dehradun, fog and a cold wave caused discomfort due to the dry, biting cold.
According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, a yellow alert for fog has been issued for Dehradun, along with parts of Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat, Nainital, and Pauri districts. Meanwhile, snowfall and light rain are expected in some parts of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Pithoragarh districts.
Snowfall is particularly likely in areas above 3400 meters. Looking ahead, the weather will remain dry across the state on January 19th and 20th.
