A ceremonial parade was held today at the Dehradun Police Lines to mark the birth anniversary of Uttarakhand Statehood Day. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Governor Lieutenant General (Retired) Gurmeet Singh inspected the parade.
DGP Deepam Seth said that the uniform should not only be a symbol of authority, but also a symbol of faith, service, and responsibility. We should resolve to elevate our state to the pinnacle of ideals in the coming years.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami remembered the statehood agitators. He said, “I also thank all the public representatives, administrative officers, police personnel, employees, teachers, and citizens of our state who have made significant contributions to the state’s development in their own ways during this glorious journey of the last 25 years. I also congratulate the police personnel, NCC cadets, Home Guards, Scout Guides, and all the cultural groups who participated in today’s event and demonstrated their excellent performance and discipline through the parade.” In the 25 years since the formation of the state, our state has faced numerous challenges and problems and has today carved a unique identity for itself as one of the strongest states in the country. We have also had to contend with numerous natural disasters and difficult situations from time to time.
Along with grand events like the Char Dham Yatra, Kavad Yatra, and Kumbh Mela, our state faces a heavy influx of pilgrims and tourists from India and abroad at various tourist destinations. Furthermore, maintaining law and order in the state, given our unique geographical conditions, has been a significant challenge. Despite all these difficulties, the Uttarakhand Police has set a unique example of public service by standing guard over every statue, like the guardian of the state’s soul and a single-minded support system. From the long-covered borders to the plains, from the throngs of pilgrims to the dire circumstances of disasters, the Uttarakhand Police have proven that “Service is the Supreme Religion” is not just their motto, but their life’s unwavering commitment. Friends, it is a matter of pride for all of us that our police have achieved twice the national average in solving crimes against women. Uttarakhand has ranked fifth in the country in the resolution of cases under the Crimes against Women and Sexual Offences Act, issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Furthermore, our state has ranked first in the country in the 2023-24 Sustainable Development Achievement Index released by NITI Aayog. Four of our villages, Jal, Harsil, Ganji, and Sufi, have received the Best Tourism Village Award nationwide.
Youth should understand the language of technology: Governor
Governor Lieutenant General (Retired) Gurmeet Singh: Uttarakhand Police has established a distinct identity as a modern police force. Cyber โโCommandos have been trained to combat cybercrimes, which has increased efficiency and strength. By placing special emphasis on community policing, they have built a bridge of public cooperation. In the span of 25 years, the state has progressed beyond the Char Dham Dham to become a global wellness destination, a wedding destination, and is advancing in many directions, including yoga and Ayurveda. The mother power has made significant contributions to the conservation of water, forests, and mountains. Women are the driving force behind the state’s development, excelling in areas ranging from self-help groups to sports, defense, science, and sports.
Today, in the age of AI, our goal is to ensure that Uttarakhand’s youth understand the language of technology in the coming years. This will pave the way for a developed India. The mantra of Swadeshi will lead to the country’s progress; we should purchase indigenous goods. It is a matter of pride to have the presence of PM Modi this year. Let us all resolve to make Uttarakhand the best state in the country in the coming years.
