Dehradun:-The State Election Commission held a press conference on the three-tier panchayat elections in Uttarakhand. The Commission shared details of the upcoming elections. The commission said that the reservation process in the panchayats was completed on June 19, after which the notification of three-tier panchayat elections was issued by the Secretary Panchayati Raj. The State Election Commission has also made the notification public today.
Now on June 23, all district magistrates have to issue notifications in their respective districts. The nomination process will run from June 25 to June 28, which will operate daily from 8 am to 4 pm.
The examination of nomination papers will be done from June 29 to July 1. Candidates will be able to withdraw their names on July 2. Panchayat elections will be held in two phases. The symbol allotment of the first phase will take place on July 3 and voting will be concluded on July 10 from 8 am to 5 pm.
The symbol allotment of the second phase will take place on July 8, and voting will take place on July 15. Counting of votes for the entire election process will take place on July 19, 2025. The State Election Commission has issued necessary guidelines to all concerned officials for fair and successful conduct of the election. At the same time, political fervour has intensified from the village to the district level. Elections are being held in 12 districts except Haridwar. Elections will be held for Gram Pradhan, Member, Kshetra Panchayat Member, District Panchayat Member.
Code of conduct applicable from today
The code of conduct has been implemented in the state from today. The electoral roll is available on the Commission’s website. The three blocks of Bageshwar district will be elected in a single phase, while 3 blocks of Dehradun district will be held in the first and second phase. In the first phase, remote blocks have been included to avoid the impact of monsoon. The Disaster Management Secretary has been instructed to ensure necessary arrangements in view of the weather. Employees engaged in election duty will get insurance cover up to Rs 10 lakh. The proposal has been sent to the government. More than 10 thousand polling stations are being set up in the state, in which an average of 750 voters will be present at a booth.
Preparations complete for 66 thousand posts, 4.5 lakh new voters will vote for the first time
This time, 4,56,793 new voters are joining the election process, an increase of 10.5% over the last time. A total of more than 66 thousand posts are to be polled. 95 thousand officers-employees will participate in the conduct of the election process, in which 35,700 security personnel will be deployed. 5600 vehicles will be deployed in this entire process. 55 general observers and 12 reserve observers have been appointed for election supervision. Although there will be no expenditure observers, the responsibility of expenditure monitoring at the district level has been given to the officials.
Teams of police, excise and administration will monitor the elections. Special facilities will be provided to the differently abled voters for cooperation. A toll free number 18001804280 has also been issued for them. Counting of votes will be done at the block level. Counting of Pradhan, Member and BDC will be done at block level.
