Dehradun: The state government can bring an ordinance today to amend the Panchayat Act. The Panchayat Act is to be amended for OBC reservation. The single-member dedicated commission has submitted its report to the government for reservation.
According to an order of the Supreme Court, more than 50 percent of the posts cannot be reserved. In such a situation, the reservation of SC, ST and OBC will not exceed 50 percent. Before the panchayat elections in the state, the Act is to be amended for reservation of OBCs.
Former IAS SS Pangti says that according to the order of the Supreme Court, more than 50 percent of the posts cannot be reserved in any context, but it has been ignored to please the vote bank. Dhami cabinet meeting will be held today on Tuesday.

Many proposals including the state’s women policy can come up in the meeting. The meeting will begin at six in the evening under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Many decisions can be taken regarding agriculture related schemes in the state. This includes the policy of dragon fruit farming, kiwi, policy to promote coarse grains. Apart from this, a proposal to convert Gram Panchayat Sirauli Kalan in Udham Singh Nagar district into Nagar Panchayat can also come in the cabinet. Street children policy can also be placed in the cabinet. At the same time, a proposal can also come regarding wedding destination policy and home stay employment.
