Dehradun: The body of an unknown person was found in a pit dug for mining in the Asan river of Selaqui. No injury marks were found on the body of the deceased. The police have kept the body in the mortuary. Efforts are being made to identify the deceased.
On Thursday, illegal construction was being demolished in Jamunpur of the police station area. Meanwhile, local villagers informed the policemen present on the spot about a dead body lying in a pit filled with water in the river. Sub-inspector Jitendra Kumar reached the spot with the team. The body was taken out of the pit. Police station in-charge PD Bhatt said that no identity documents were found with the deceased. The age of the deceased seems to be between 45 to 50 years. The body seems to be about four to five days old.
