The CBI will now investigate the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) paper leak case. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has approved the matter. The CBI will soon file a case and begin the investigation.
On September 21st, the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission conducted a graduate-level recruitment examination. During this examination, a paper leak was reported from a center in Haridwar. Youth, questioning the integrity of the examination, began a sit-in protest near the Parade Ground on the night of September 21st. Several rounds of talks were held with the youth, but nothing was resolved for several days. Meanwhile, the police registered a case and were investigating.
Two accused were arrested. A single commission of inquiry was also formed. Despite this, the youth remained adamant on their demand for a CBI investigation and the cancellation of the examination. On September 29th, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached the protest site and from there recommended a CBI investigation.
The government officially issued a letter the next day. Police Headquarters has been coordinating with central departments. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister recently announced the cancellation of the exam. Now, based on the government’s recommendation for a CBI investigation, the Department of Police (DoPT) has approved it.
ADG (Law and Order) Dr. V. Murugesan confirmed the approval of the CBI investigation. It is reported that a CBI team will meet with the police team (SIT) investigating the paper leak case on Tuesday. Following this, the facts and witnesses revealed in the investigation so far may be handed over to the CBI.
