Pauri: Adhoc junior engineers Sudarshan Rawat and Alok Rawat posted in District Panchayat Pauri have been sacked on charges of financial irregularities. Panchayati Raj Secretary Chandresh Kumar has issued orders for termination of service of both.
Two JEs of District Panchayat Pauri sacked: According to the information, in the year 2018, Sudarshan Rawat and Alok Rawat were appointed as junior engineers in District Panchayat Pauri through UPNL. After this, on April 5, 2021, under the government order, they were appointed as junior engineers on ad hoc basis.
After the adhoc appointment, both the engineers were accused of serious violation of rules and financial irregularities in the tenders of construction work, supply and services. In the matter, Khandyusain resident Karan Rawat and District Panchayat member Gaurav Rawat had lodged a complaint from Garhwal Commissioner to the government.
Both the engineers lost their jobs: At the same time, during the investigation of the case, Sudarshan Rawat was suspended in October 2024. Now after the allegations were found to be true in the investigation, both the engineers have been dismissed from service. In such a situation, both the engineers have lost their jobs due to irregularities.
This was the whole matter: Actually, ad-hoc junior engineers Sudarshan Rawat and Alok Rawat posted in the Panchayati Raj Department were accused of serious financial irregularities. The government had issued an inquiry order in November 2024 and nominated the Director Panchayati Raj as the investigating officer.
The investigating officer completed the investigation on June 11, 2025 and submitted the report to the government. According to the report, as the engineer-in-charge, Sudarshan Rawat himself approved the maps of buildings and hotels bypassing the rules. Whereas, as per the rules, this work is of the Additional Chief Officer.
Apart from this, 25 percent share of the amount of 1,47,94,346 (one crore forty seven lakh three hundred forty six rupees) paid to a firm was fixed in the name of the wives of Sudarshan Rawat and Alok Rawat. The information about the payment made to this firm was not given to the District Panchayat.
The vigilance investigation also confirmed that Rs 84,27,000 was deposited in the account of Sudarshan Rawat’s wife in September 2024. On being proved guilty of serious irregularities and corruption, Panchayati Raj Secretary Chandresh Kumar issued orders to terminate the services of both. Along with this, instructions have also been given to stop the payment of allowances payable during the suspension period.
