Police have detained two Bangladeshi women living illegally in Dehradun. One of them was found to be carrying fake documents, such as an Aadhaar card and a PAN card. For this reason, she has been arrested, while the other woman living illegally will be deported back to Bangladesh.
The arrested accused had crossed the border illegally to India during the COVID-19 pandemic. After arriving in India, she had forged documents under the name of Bhoomi Sharma, a Hindu woman. To stay in India, she changed her name from Babli Khatoon to Bhoomi Sharma and married a Hindu man in Dehradun.
The police have filed a case against the arrested accused under serious sections for illegally living in India by creating fake documents. Those who assisted the accused in creating the fake documents are also on the police’s radar.
The other Bangladeshi woman detained had also crossed the border illegally to India in 2023. She worked as a laborer. She will soon be deported to Bangladesh in accordance with Indian government instructions. Under Operation Kalanemi, police have already taken action against 17 Bangladeshi citizens living illegally in the district. Eight Bangladeshi citizens living illegally with forged documents have been booked and sent to jail.
