Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami spoke to Tarun Prasad Chakma, the father of Angel Chakma, a student from Tripura, over the phone on Monday. He expressed his condolences over Angel’s murder and said that five accused have already been arrested in the case. He added that another accused is suspected to have fled to Nepal, and efforts are being made to arrest him, with a reward being offered for his capture.
The Chief Minister said that he is personally saddened by this incident and understands the family’s grief. He assured them that the Uttarakhand government will ensure that the culprits receive strict punishment. He said that such an atmosphere has never prevailed in Uttarakhand before, as students from across the country and abroad come here to study. Therefore, this incident is painful for all of them.
The government will take strict action in such cases. He said that after the incident, he spoke with Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, as well as Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The Chief Minister said that the state government stands completely with the victim’s family. He will also speak to the Chief Minister of Tripura regarding assistance for the family, and the Uttarakhand government will provide all possible help to the family
