On Monday, a bus coming from behind crushed a girl riding a scooter near the ISBT flyover. The girl Lai Bano, a resident of Saharanpur, who was injured in the accident, died. The people present on the spot caught the bus driver, beat him up and blocked the road there.
The police rescued the driver from the clutches of the people and brought him to the ISBT outpost where a case has been registered against him. The police has also taken the bus into custody. SSP Ajay Singh said that the incident took place around four in the evening. Lai Bano, daughter of Wakat Ali, a resident of Mankau in Saharanpur, was studying at BFIT here. Lai Bano was going towards ISBT from Majra on Monday. She overtook the bus going in front, due to which she came under the bus.
The bus driver could not control the speed and the rear wheel ran over the girl. At the same time, the local people surrounded the bus and caught the driver. When the police reached the spot, they saw that Lai Bano was stuck under the rear wheel of the bus. The police removed the bus and took Lai Bano out and took her to the hospital. Doctors declared Lai Bano dead in the hospital.
A case has been registered against the bus driver and he has been arrested. This bus with Saharanpur number is a tourist bus, information about which is being gathered. Footage of nearby CCTV cameras is also being checked.
