On Monday morning, after the court rejected their anticipatory bail plea in the Noorpur Panjhanheri shooting incident in the Kankhal police station area, police arrested three accused, including BJP Yuva Morcha state minister Tarun Chauhan. Immediately after the arrests, women and Bajrang Dal workers arrived at the police station and began a protest, raising slogans and staging a sit-in protest, accusing the police. As the commotion escalated, police from nearby police stations were called in. After establishing a security cordon, the police escorted the three accused to court. After being produced in court, all three were sent to jail.
According to police, a dispute erupted on January 28th after an administrative team arrived at Usha Township in Panjhanheri to respond to a complaint of illegal plotting. District Panchayat Vice President Amit Chauhan’s brother, Sachin Chauhan, and relative, Krishnapal, were shot. Amit Chauhan had filed an attempt-to-murder report against BJP leader Atul Chauhan, his nephew, BJP Yuva Morcha state minister Tarun Chauhan, and others, alleging that they had fired from licensed weapons. Atul Chauhan surrendered at the police station. Meanwhile, an application for anticipatory bail was filed in the court for Tarun Chauhan, Abhishek Chauhan, and Gaurav Chauhan. However, the court rejected it.
According to the police, non-bailable warrants were issued against all three. Following this, on Monday, the police arrested all three and brought them to Kankhal police station. Meanwhile, Tarun Chauhan’s supporters, family, women from the village, and Bajrang Dal activists gathered and reached Kankhal police station. They all started a ruckus by raising slogans in the police station. The women first sat on a dharna in the middle of the premises and then outside the SHO’s room, raising slogans. Seeing the commotion increasing, CO City Shishupal Singh Negi arrived at the scene. Police forces were also called in from the city police station, Shyampur, and Jwalapur
