State Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat stated that significant and historic decisions have been taken in the Union Budget for health and medical education. The budget includes provisions for the establishment of three new AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences), two new National Institutes of Mental Health, and institutions for allied health professionals. Additionally, to promote medical tourism, five regional medical hubs will be developed, which will function as integrated health centers equipped with modern hospitals, medical education, and research facilities.
He further informed that the BioPharma Shakti scheme has been announced to combat serious diseases like diabetes and cancer. This scheme will promote the domestic production of biologics and biosimilar drugs in the country, making treatment more affordable and accessible.
Dr. Rawat instructed departmental officials to prepare concrete proposals at the state level in line with the Union Budget, so that medical education, health, and the pharmaceutical sector can be promoted in the state.
