Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has decided to give a 20 percent bonus to the employees and workers of the Assam Tea Corporation’s tea gardens on the occasion of Durga Puja.
The Chief Minister also announced that the Assam Cabinet has approved ₹260 crore for the establishment of the 10th Assam Battalion in Kachutoli. According to an official release, the State Cabinet has approved administrative approval of ₹260 crore for the work of establishment (Phase-I) of the 10th AP Battalion in Sonapur, Assam. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister chaired a cabinet meeting at the Public Service Building. It approved major projects and welfare measures, including the allotment of land for a memorial for the late cultural icon Zubeen Garg.
The State Cabinet approved the commissioning of the Jyoti Vishnu Auditorium Project, a 5,000-capacity auditorium in Guwahati. Its construction will be entrusted to the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra Society, Panjabari, Guwahati. Regular maintenance of the auditorium will be undertaken by the Public Works Department (Building Construction).
The State Cabinet also approved the increase in remuneration, leave eligibility, and adoption of an annual evaluation format for 65 science and mathematics instructors appointed through the Assam Council for Science, Technology, and Environment.
Science and mathematics instructors will receive a monthly remuneration of ₹34,800.00 per month plus 12.7% CPF. They will also be entitled to a 5% annual increment (subject to evaluation in the annual evaluation report) and will be considered for casual and maternity leave.
The incumbents are entitled to the benefits of Mukhyamantri Lok Sevak Arogya Yojana (MMLSAY). The State Cabinet has approved setting of question papers for the Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination to be conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) in bilingual mode i.e. in both English and Assamese languages to ensure uniformity in both the examinations and to remove the language barrier for the candidates, especially those from rural and local backgrounds.
