In this context, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today targeted Rahul Gandhi without naming him. He said that some people are trying to steal Karpoori Thakur’s “Janayak” award.
PM Modi’s taunt on Rahul Gandhi: PM Modi said that Karpoori Thakur wasn’t made a “Janayak” by a social media trolling team. He was made a “Janayak” by the people of Bihar, by his work. Therefore, I would urge the people of Bihar to be cautious. He said that the title of “Janayak” only suits Karpoori Thakur, because nowadays people are trying to steal even the title of “Janayak.”
“Attempt to steal the honor of our leader of the people”: PM Modi said, “I appeal to the people of Bihar to ensure that no one steals the honor of our leader of the people, Karpuri Thakur.” Recently, during the Vote Adhikar Yatra in Bihar, Congress workers called Rahul Gandhi a “people’s leader,” causing an uproar.

What did Nitish Kumar say?: Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, via video conferencing, said that it is a matter of great joy that a Kaushal Convocation has been organized today for ITI toppers from across the country. At this event, Prime Minister Modi presented certificates to the students of these institutions. The CM said that the Karpoori Thakur Kaushal University will greatly benefit the people of Bihar.

Who was Karpoori Thakur?: Karpoori Thakur, a socialist leader, served as the Chief Minister of Bihar twice. He first held this position from December 22, 1970, to December 22, 1970, and again from June 24, 1977, to April 21, 1979. He was born on January 24, 1924, and passed away on February 17, 1988, at the age of 64. The Government of India posthumously awarded him India’s highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna, on January 23, 2024. He is also known as the “People’s Leader.”
