There was a stir at 4:30 am on Wednesday in Uttam Distillery Factory located in village Ahmedpur Grant of Thana Bahadarabad area of Haridwar, when suddenly flood water entered the factory premises. The 112 control room received information about about 150 people being trapped in the factory.
On receiving the information, Senior Sub Inspector Pradeep Rathore from Thana Bahadarabad, Shantarshah Outpost Incharge Sub Inspector Khemendra Gangwar, Night Officer Additional Sub Inspector Rakesh Singh, Thana Mobile, HP-4 Police Force immediately reached the spot. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the control room was informed to send fire brigade and water police.
All the police teams that reached the spot immediately started relief and rescue work and a total of 52 people including 40 employees working in the factory and 12 truck drivers were safely evacuated. Inspector Naresh Rathore said that police teams were dispatched as soon as the information was received.
On reaching the spot, the teams started relief and rescue work and 52 people were safely evacuated. All have been sent to safe places. A major accident was averted as relief work began on time
