The Labor Cess and Construction Management System (LCCMS), developed by the Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, will soon be implemented in all states across the country. A two-member central expert team visited the Workers’ Board on Monday to study the system. The Labor Cess Act was implemented in 2005.
Since then, the entire labor cess payment process was conducted offline. People paid their own cess. Following the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Workers’ Board developed the LCCMS with the help of IT. Now, the Board is moving the entire labor cess process online. Recently, Labor Commissioner PC Dumka presented it to the central government, and Union Labor Minister Mansukh Mandaviya praised it.
On Monday, a two-member team consisting of Naveen Kumar, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Labor and Employment, and Director, NIC, visited the Workers’ Board office. The team will thoroughly study the model and review all its technical and practical aspects. Labor Commissioner Dumka said that after this the Central Government will implement it for all the states.
