The Khel Mahakumbh (Sports Festival) will be held this year in a new format under the name Chief Minister’s Champions Trophy 2025-26, and it is scheduled to begin on December 23rd. Sports Minister Rekha Arya provided this information at a press conference.
At the press conference held at the Secretariat on Thursday, Sports Minister Rekha Arya stated that the competition will be organized in four phases: at the Nyaya Panchayat (village council), Assembly constituency, Parliamentary constituency, and state levels.
A total of 26 sports events will be held during the competition, including traditional games this time.
The championship will conclude on January 28th, and on this day, the winner will receive the Chief Minister’s Champions Trophy along with a cash prize of five lakh rupees. The champion will be decided based on the total points earned from the medals won.
In addition, the team winning the Parliamentary Trophy will receive a cash prize of two lakh rupees, and the team winning the Assembly Trophy will receive one lakh rupees. Sports Minister Rekha Arya also announced that a player who breaks a national record will receive an additional prize of one lakh rupees. Registration for the championship began on October 14th, and so far, more than 110,000 players have registered. She informed that online registration will remain open until December 22nd.
Separate competition for differently-abled athletes
A separate competition will be organized for differently-abled athletes of the state in athletics, badminton, and swimming. The Sports Minister said that registration for this category has also begun.
No player without shoes and tracksuit
Sports Minister Rekha Arya held a video conference with the District Magistrates of all districts at the NIC office in the Secretariat regarding this event. She instructed all District Magistrates to ensure that all players participating in the trials and games have shoes and tracksuits. She also directed them to make adequate arrangements to protect the players from the cold, to deploy a health department team at every sports venue, and to arrange for accommodation and food for the players at night if needed.
