This year, less than half the number of devotees are reaching Badrinath to perform Pind Daan and Tarpan during the Shradh Paksha as compared to last year. This year, the effect of continuous rain, disaster, landslides and the poor condition of the Badrinath highway is visible on the pilgrimage to Badrinath Dham.
The second phase of the pilgrimage is considered to start from the Shradh Paksha in Badrinath Dham. A large number of people from the country and abroad reach Brahmakapal Tirtha to perform Tarpan and Pind Daan for their ancestors. After this, the number of pilgrims visiting the Dham starts increasing rapidly. Three days have passed since the Shradh started this year, but till now there has not been much increase in the number of devotees.
Madan Kothiyal, Tirth Purohit of Brahmakapal, said that this time the effect of the damage caused by the rains is visible on the pilgrimage. Last year, during the Shradh Paksha, more than a thousand devotees came every day to perform Pind Daan and Tarpan. This year, so far, only four to five hundred people are reaching every day. It is expected that the number of passengers will gradually increase as the weather becomes normal
