The Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) took major action against unplanned development in its jurisdiction on Wednesday, demolishing illegal plotting on approximately 125 bighas of land. This action, carried out under the authority’s bylaws, involved bulldozing the roads of the illegally developed plots. The MDDA has repeatedly clarified that construction and plotting without approval in the authority’s area not only violate regulations but also negatively impact urban planning, environmental balance, and future development plans. Keeping this in mind, the authority is taking strict action in such cases from time to time.
*25 Bighas of Illegal Plotting Demolished on Horawala Road, Chharba*
According to information received, Vikas and Alok Nautiyal were illegally plotting on approximately 20 to 25 bighas of land near the ITI on Horawala Road, Chharba, in the Dehradun area. Land was being divided and plots were being created without the authority’s permission, and internal roads were being developed. The MDDA team reached the spot and demolished all these illegal structures, warning the concerned individuals to refrain from such activities in the future.
*Action Taken on 100 Bighas of Land on Langha Road, Chharba, Sahaspur*
In a similar action, major steps were taken against illegal plotting carried out by Tadiyal and Joshi on approximately 100 bighas of land on Langha Road, Chharba, Sahaspur, in the Dehradun area. Here, plots were marked in the form of an illegally developed colony, and roads were being constructed. The MDDA team reached the spot and demolished the illegally constructed roads, boundary markings, and other temporary structures.

During the demolition drive, Assistant Engineer Shashank Saxena, Junior Engineer Siddharth Semwal, Manish Nautiyal (Supervisor), along with the MDDA’s technical staff and an adequate police force, were present on the spot to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents. *Public Alert Issued*
The Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has appealed to the general public to obtain the necessary permissions from the authority before purchasing or selling land or commencing any construction work. Construction or plotting undertaken without approval will not only be subject to demolition but will also face legal action as per the rules.
