The CBI has issued a notice to senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Harish Rawat in connection with the highly publicized 2016 sting operation. The notice directs him to appear at CBI headquarters this month.
In 2016, while Harish Rawat was Chief Minister, a sting operation went viral, causing a political upheaval in the state. The sting alleged Rawat was involved in horse-trading deals to save the government. It also revealed allegations of monetary transactions.
The CBI was entrusted with investigating this entire matter. Previously, the CBI has issued several notices to Harish Rawat. Now, he has been summoned to CBI headquarters with another notice.
The CBI remembered me after a long time: Rawat
After receiving the CBI notice, Rawat said, “After a long time, the CBI friends have remembered me. The notice suggests that the assembly elections are coming up again.” The CBI has compromised its independence and autonomy by handing over its independence to a friend of the BJP. They deemed me worthy of electioneering. I’m saying that I won’t be the one to step forward, but it seems those in the central government still believe Harish Rawat can influence the election results.
I have received the CBI notice. I have also requested that I am not in a position to travel until September. Please give me time until the second or third week of October. I will be happy to appear at CBI headquarters to record my statement or for whatever purpose I am being summoned
