On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Women Welfare Excellence Service Award and “Meri Pehchan-2026” program were organized at Lok Bhavan, Raj Bhavan. Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh and Women Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya honored employees, officials, and beneficiaries of government schemes for their outstanding work in various fields.
At the event, the Governor stated that women in Uttarakhand have made rapid progress over the past decade and will make a significant contribution to the developed India of 2047.
On this occasion, Minister Rekha Arya stated that the Uttarakhand government is continuously taking concrete steps for the welfare of women and children. The state government has implemented the Vatsalya Yojana, providing 5 percent reservation in government jobs to orphaned adolescents and 30 percent reservation to women, which is an important initiative towards women’s empowerment.
