New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged citizens to participate in an auction of gifts he received. In a post shared on social media, he stated that the proceeds will go towards the Namami Gange project. The e-auction of mementos received by the Prime Minister began at 10 am on September 17th, on the occasion of his birthday, and will close at 5 pm on October 2nd.
Sharing a post on social media, the Prime Minister wrote, “Over the past few days, an online auction of various gifts received by me during my various programs has been underway. This auction includes very interesting pieces showcasing India’s culture and creativity. The proceeds from the auction will go towards Namami Gange. Do participate.” Items being auctioned:
According to the PM Mementos website, a silver model of the Ram Temple, a Kamadhenu with a calf, a model of a cane ship, a wooden spinning wheel, and other items are part of the live auction. Auction items include paintings from the Kailasa Temple at Ellora, a G20 poster, and a framed statue of Lord Buddha from Bihar.
How to participate in this auction:
Users can visit pmmementos.gov.in, register an account, and bid for the items in the auction. PM Mementos is an open auction portal of the Government of India, enabling buyers to participate in the online auction of displayed items after proper registration.
What is the Namami Gange Project:
According to the Ministry of Jal Shakti, the Namami Gange program is an integrated conservation mission. Approved as a “flagship program” by the central government in June 2014, it aims to achieve pollution prevention, conservation, and rejuvenation of the Ganga River. The budget outlay is ₹20,000 crore.
The implementation of this project is divided into two parts: initial activities, which will have immediate impact, and medium-term activities, which will be implemented over a five-year timeframe. and long-term activities, which will be implemented over a 10-year timeframe.
