Pithoragarh: Political discussions have intensified after the seat of District Panchayat President was reserved for Scheduled Caste in the border district headquarters Pithoragarh. Now the public is curious to know who will become the District Panchayat President. Here BJP has intensified the strategy regarding the District Panchayat President, while Congress is silent on this issue, while there has been no response from the independents as well. Everyone is in a wait and watch situation on this and movement is expected only after the settlement of objections related to reservation. There are 32 seats for members in Pithoragarh District Panchayat. While this time in the Panchayat elections, only 15 BJP and 6 Congress supported candidates have won in the district. Due to which the role of independent members will be that of kingmakers.
Out of the Scheduled Caste District Panchayat members, seven members have been elected, including Vimala Devi from Pankhu with BJP ideology, Rahul Kumar independent from Chahaj, Congress-supported Mamta Chanyal from Surkhal, Jitendra Prasad supported by BJP from Bhatyuda, Bhavna Chanyal supported by BJP from Barakot, and Hemant Kumar independent from Digra Muwani. There are four women and three male members among them. Out of seven, three members are authorized by BJP, while two are from BJP background. One member is from Congress and one is independent. No claim has been revealed yet. Due to which there is a discussion among the general public about who will become the president. Pithoragarh district is also the main center of state politics.
The home area of the state CM Pushkar Dhami is in Pithoragarh district itself. While former CM Bhagat Singh Koshyari, former BJP state president and DDhat MLA Bishan Singh Chuphal are considered to have an important role in the Panchayat. District Panchayat member Vimala Devi, who won by the highest number of 3 thousand votes in the district from Pankhu Sera, is considered to be a strong contender. Vimala Devi did not get a ticket from BJP, but she still won.
Vimla Devi’s husband Dinesh Arya is considered close to big leaders, including being the state minister of BJP’s Scheduled Front and Lok Sabha election and assembly in-charge in many states. Vimla Devi can get the benefit of this. Let us tell you that in Pithoragarh district, Congress BJP does not have enough members to reach the chair of District Panchayat President. Where only 15 supported candidates of BJP and only 6 supported candidates of Congress have won. Due to which the role of independent members will be that of kingmaker to make the president.
