Uttarkashi: The doors of the world-famous Yamunotri Dham will be closed for the winter season on October 23rd at 12:30 pm. After this, the darshan of Mother Yamuna will be performed at her winter residence in Kharsali village. The doors of Gangotri Dham will be ritually closed for the six-month winter season on October 22nd, during the Annakut festival, at 11:36 am during the Abhijit Muhurta. After this, the darshan of Mother Ganga will be performed at her winter residence in Mukhba village.
The doors of Yamunotri will be closed for the winter season on Thursday, October 23rd, at 12:30 pm during Dhan Lagna Amrit Vela, on the auspicious occasion of Bhaiya Dooj. On the occasion of Dussehra, the priestly community convened a meeting at the Yamuna Temple in Kharsali village, the winter residence of Mother Yamuna, to determine the date and time for closing the doors of the Yamunotri Dham. Purushottam Uniyal, spokesperson for the Yamunotri Temple Committee, stated that the doors will be closed for the six-month winter season at 12:30 pm on Thursday, following the rituals and rites of passage during the Vishakha Nakshatra, Ayushmaan Yoga, Sagittarius Ascendant, and Amrit Vela.
According to the Yamunotri Temple Committee, during the six-month winter season, darshan and worship of Mother Yamuna will be held at the Yamuna Temple in Kharsali village, Yamuna’s maternal home. Earlier in the morning, the palanquin of Mother Yamuna’s brother, Someshwar Maharaj Shanidev, will depart for Yamunotri Dham to receive his sister. Sunil Uniyal, Vijay Prakash, Pradeep Uniyal Uniyal, Sanjeev Uniyal, Raghavanand Uniyal, Kriteshwar Uniyal, Mahavir Prasad Manmohan Uniyal, Suresh Uniyal, Divyanshu Uniyal, Narayan Uniyal, and others were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the doors of the world-famous Gangotri Dham will be ceremonially closed for the six-month winter season on October 22nd, during the Annakut festival, at 11:36 am during the Abhijit Muhurta. After this, Mother Ganga will be worshipped at her winter residence in Mukhba village. Suresh Semwal, Secretary of the Gangotri Dham Temple Committee, stated that the date and time for closing the doors of Gangotri Dham on the auspicious occasion of Navratri were determined according to the calendar.
He stated that the doors of Gangotri Dham will be closed on Kartik 6th, at 11:36 am during the Abhijit Muhurta. After this, the idol of Ganga Ji will be carried in a palanquin, accompanied by an army band and local musical instruments, to its winter residence in Mukhba village. On the night of October 22nd, the palanquin of Ganga Ji will rest for the night at the Markandeya Temple, located about two kilometers from Mukhba village. Then, the next day, on October 23rd, at noon, the idol of Ganga Ji will arrive in Mukhba village, where her idol will be installed in the Ganga temple with rituals for the six months of winter.
