The construction of the Dehradun-Paonta Sahib National Highway, being built by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), is 95 percent complete. A 1.17 km bridge has been constructed over the Yamuna River on this 44 km highway. Work is currently underway on building the approach road to the bridge on the Himachal Pradesh side.
Once the underpass near Premnagar is completed, the distance between Dehradun and Paonta Sahib will be covered in just 35 minutes. NHAI Project Director Saurabh Singh informed during a press conference that the project was approved in 2022 at a cost of Rs. 1640 crore. It has been constructed in two phases.
Package One covers approximately 18.700 km from Paonta Sahib to Mednipur. Its cost is approximately Rs. 523.21 crore. This includes the 1.17 km bridge built over the Yamuna River. Package Two covers the section from Mednipur to Ballupur.
Its cost is Rs. 1093 crore and its length is 26.100 km. This highway connects Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh and Dehradun. Sumit Singh (Assistant Engineer), Ravi Dinkar, Pankaj Bhardwaj, and others were present at the press conference
