Due to heavy rains in the afternoon in Harshil valley, there is panic among the local people due to the sudden overflow of Telgad river once again. Due to the increase in water in Telgad, the water level of Bhagirathi is also increasing. Therefore, keeping in view the safety, the administration has evacuated the hotels and residential buildings on the banks of the river, including the GMVN guest house and police station.
Harsil was already facing a threat from the lake formed in the Bhagirathi river. After noon, when the water level of Telgad increased, its water started flowing towards the debris deposited on the Gangotri highway. After that, due to the debris coming with water two to three times again, it is flowing towards the army camp and Bhagirathi river. Local people say that the debris of Kheerganga kept coming continuously in Dharali but in Telagad the debris and boulders were stuck in the upper area.
