Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy inaugurated the sprawling 85-acre Eco Hill Park in Kothawalguda on Friday evening. The park opened to the public today.
Built at a cost of approximately ₹75 crore, the Eco Park aims to raise awareness about the environment and provide visitors with a beautiful and recreational space amidst nature. Officials said the park features approximately 1 million plants, creating a lush green environment and offering a rich experience of fresh air and biodiversity.
The park’s 1.5-kilometer elevated boardwalk is constructed using composite wood and is 2.5 meters wide. Officials claim it is India’s longest elevated boardwalk. Nature lovers can stroll along the paths, enjoying the beautiful views of the nearby Himayat Sagar Reservoir and the surrounding greenery. The park also features a uniquely designed Arrival Plaza, constructed using natural Konkan bamboo structures in the shape of an arch. The nearby Gathering Plaza, made of light gray stone, features artistic sculptures among the natural rocks, becoming a major attraction for visitors.
Another highlight is the massive 4.8-acre aviary, considered one of Asia’s largest bird exhibits. This aviary is home to approximately 6,500 birds from 25 different species from regions such as Asia, Africa, South America, and Australia.
For children, the park features a natural play area with wooden structures, soft grass surfaces, and eco-friendly play equipment. A butterfly garden has also been created within the park, offering visitors the opportunity to observe a variety of butterflies in their natural habitat.
The Eco Park has been designed with special attention to biodiversity. Officials say the park has 188 species of plants, including 50 types of hedges, 35 types of shrubs, 15 types of soil-binding vines, 12 ornamental flowering plants, and approximately 40 uniquely shaped ornamental plants. A special rock garden with drought-tolerant plants has also been created.
The park will be open to visitors from 9 am to 6 pm. The entry fee is 100 rupees, while the bird show costs 150 rupees. Officials said the entry fee will be 200 rupees on weekends.
