Hyderabad: The Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) has announced the list of selected candidates for Group-1 posts. On Wednesday, a bench headed by the Chief Justice of the High Court stayed the single judge’s decision on Group-1, paving the way for the declaration of results. Following the decision, the board, headed by TGPSC Chairman Burra Venkatesham, met and decided to declare the results. They worked until midnight and announced the final selection list.
The Commission clarified that if any of the selected candidates provided false information, their appointment will be cancelled at any time and action will be taken as per TGPSC rules. The final selection included 258 candidates selected for Multizone-1 and 304 for Multizone-2.
A.S. of Hyderabad Lakshmi Deepika of Rao Nagar became the state topper in the Multizone-2 category by scoring 550 out of 900 marks in the Group-1 main examination. She completed her medical studies at Osmania University and performed exceptionally well in the Group-1 main examination.
Tejaswini of Hanumankonda district, who topped the Multizone-1 category, scored 532 marks in the written examination. She is currently serving as the Mandal Panchayat Officer. TGPSC Chairman Burra Venkatesham stated that the top 10 rank holders in Group 1 have been selected for the RDO posts.
The top 10 ranks were secured by Lakshmi Deepika, Dadi Venkataraman, Vamsi Krishna Reddy, Jinna Tejaswini, Krithika, Harshvardhan, Anusha, Nikhita, Bhavya, and Sri Krishna Sai. Six women are in the top 10 in the general merit rank list, 25 women in the top 50, and 41 women in the top 100. Fifty-two candidates scored more than 500 marks in the Group 1 Main Examination.
In addition to the top three rank holders, five non-Telangana local candidates also excelled in the top 100. The TGPSC announced the General Rank List (GRL) based on the marks obtained by candidates in the Group 1 Main Examination. The TGPSC had issued a notification for 563 Group 1 posts in February 2024.
The main examinations were held from October 21 to 27, 2024. On March 30, the marks of 21,085 candidates who appeared for all the main examination papers were declared. The qualifying examination revealed marks for six papers, including English, which are part of the main examination. Some candidates approached the court for various reasons.
A single bench of the High Court ruled that after hearing the candidates’ petitions, the answer sheets should be re-evaluated, or else the examination should be conducted again. Yesterday, after the TGPSC filed an appeal against the decision, the High Court stayed the implementation of the single-judge decision. With this, the Commission announced the final selection results. This is the first time recruitment has been made for Group-1 posts since the formation of Telangana state. The TGPSC announced that the final selections will be subject to the final decision of the High Court.
