New Delhi/Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to allocate more IPS officers to the state. He stated that additional IPS officers are needed for the rapidly developing city of Hyderabad. The Chief Minister met with Amit Shah in Delhi on Wednesday along with police officers and discussed various issues.
Revanth Reddy requested, “After the formation of the state, the first cadre review was conducted in 2016. The review, scheduled for 2021, was postponed and held in 2025. At that time, Telangana was allocated only seven IPS officers. A cadre review should be conducted again this year. Currently, Telangana has only 83 IPS officers, and this number should be increased to 105.”
The Chief Minister also drew Amit Shah’s attention to the previous three commissionerates under the capital and the establishment of a new ‘Future City’ commissionerate. Given all this, he stated that Telangana needs more IPS officers. He urged the central government to take a decision on this matter soon.
The Chief Minister briefed the state on the steps being taken to maintain law and order. In particular, he detailed the activities of the “Eagle Force,” a special force formed to control narcotics, and the role played by the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau in preventing cybercrime.
The meeting discussed Maoist leaders who are joining the mainstream and those who are still in hiding. The two leaders discussed in detail the surrender, rehabilitation, and other related issues of Maoists.
The Chief Minister stated, “In the past two years, a total of 591 Maoists in the state have laid down their arms and joined the mainstream. It is a good development that many Maoist leaders have come forward to live a normal life in recent times, and his government is providing them with various facilities.” Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Seshadri, DGP Shivadhar Reddy, Intelligence Department chief Vijay Kumar, SIB IG Sumati and other officials attended the programme.
