In view of improving the quality of higher education, teachers from government universities and colleges are being given special training. For this purpose, the department has signed MoUs with prestigious institutions across the country. Under this scheme, a team of 89 teachers from the science stream selected from government universities and colleges was addressed by the State Higher Education Minister, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat.
At a program organized by the Higher Education Department at Government PG College, Doiwala, today, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat addressed the science teachers selected for training at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. He said that the state government is continuously striving to improve the quality of higher education. Under this initiative, MoUs have been signed with prestigious institutions across the country so that teachers can receive better training. Dr. Rawat said that the responsibility of preparing future generations rests on the shoulders of teachers, so that a glorious nation can be built. On this occasion, Dr. Rawat told the 89 science teachers from various disciplines selected for training at IISc Bengaluru to focus on learning the culture of studying and research at IISc. He instructed the teachers to develop a better academic environment in their respective colleges and to encourage research among students. He said that efforts must be made to ensure that 10 percent of the state’s students get admission to excellent institutions across the country.
Dr. Rawat informed that to provide advanced scientific training and teach the intricacies of science to science teachers in higher education, training will be conducted at the Challakere campus of IISc Bengaluru from December 28, 2025, to January 12, 2026. For the second phase of training, a total of 89 science teachers have been selected subject-wise based on their H-index, research, and publication standards. This includes 22 teachers of Physics, 23 of Chemistry, 14 of Botany, 13 of Zoology, and 17 of Mathematics. Dr. Rawat said that the government is committed to providing quality education. Collaboration with IISc, Bengaluru will also be sought in the field of research along with training. In addition, MoUs have been signed with institutions like IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, and IISER Mohali for the training of science teachers. Meanwhile, positive steps are being taken towards bringing about a qualitative change in the higher education ecosystem through teacher training programs at institutions like JNU/BHU, and leadership training programs at IIM Kashipur. Dr. Rawat said that the positive impact of this teacher training and exposure will be visible in the educational institutions of the state.

Bhatt, Deputy Director Dr. Mamta Dyundi Naithani, Assistant Director Prof. Deepak Kumar Pandey, Dr. Shailendra Singh, Prof. Rakhi Panchola, Prof. Tribhuvan, Prof. Afroz, and other participating teachers. Prof. Subba Reddy, Director of the Talent Development Center at IISc, participated virtually.
