Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said that the achievements of the Dravidian model government have helped Tamil Nadu outperform other states, while also expressing strong displeasure over the Governor’s conduct during the assembly proceedings.
Speaking in the state assembly here, Stalin said that Tamil Nadu has held its head high due to the consistent implementation of welfare schemes. Tamil Nadu has developed more than other states. This is because of our schemes. He said, “As far as this government is concerned, once one achievement is made, another even bigger one follows. Achieving one milestone after another is the hallmark of the Dravidian model government.”
Stalin sharply criticized Governor R.N. Ravi and accused him of repeatedly causing disruptions. He said that the Governor is working against the government. He repeatedly cites the same reason and walks out of the assembly. “I am a person who respects the country and the national anthem very much. No one needs to lecture us on patriotism. I am saddened by the Governor’s actions. It is customary to sing the Tamil Thai Vazhthu at the beginning and the national anthem at the end of the assembly session.” Speaking about his first term, the Chief Minister said that while assuming power brought joy, it also brought the worry of fulfilling promises amidst the setbacks caused by the previous ten years of rule. He said, “However, after five years in power, I am happy. I am happy because the people are happy.” He further added that his government has brought a new dawn into the lives of the people.
Stalin highlighted several major initiatives, including the ‘Vidiyal Payanam’ free bus travel scheme for women, the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai monthly assistance, the Rs 3,000 relief during Pongal, a permanent pension scheme, and the distribution of laptops to 10 lakh students. He also mentioned infrastructure projects such as the Kalaignar Centenary Library, Kilambakkam bus terminus, road development, check dams, and drinking water schemes.
The Chief Minister said that the state had attracted investments worth ₹12 lakh crore, disbursed loans exceeding ₹1.34 lakh crore to women’s self-help groups, recovered temple properties worth ₹8,000 crore, and allocated ₹500 crore for the welfare of persons with disabilities.
