Food and Drug Administration teams conducted intensive inspections of medical stores located in Clementtown, Premnagar, and around Doon Hospital in the city. This action was taken to ensure the sale of codeine-containing cough syrups and full compliance with the terms and conditions of drug sales.
During the inspection, a total of eight firms were inspected. Irregularities were found at some stores. Following this, the concerned firms were issued a stern warning and instructed to strictly adhere to all conditions of their drug sales licenses. Officials clarified that if any violations are found in the future, strict action will be taken against the concerned firms under the provisions of the Drugs Act.
During the inspection, samples of three suspect drugs were taken for quality testing. According to officials, such inspections will continue in the future on the instructions of higher authorities. The administration has clarified that strict legal action will be taken against any individual or firm found violating the rules.
