A state-level agricultural fair has begun in Gauchar, Chamoli, on the occasion of Farmers’ Day. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also attended the fair and spent several hours interacting with the farmers. The fair features stalls showcasing local produce from the hills, as well as agricultural equipment. During his visit, the Union Minister even operated a traditional flour mill and churned butter.
The fairgrounds showcase various aspects of mountain agriculture, including terraced farming and horticulture. One section features livestock farming, including the indigenous Badri cow, while other exhibits display models of trout farming, kiwi cultivation, and other agricultural practices
