Rudraprayag: Light to moderate rainfall has commenced in the lower regions of the district, while a fresh spell of snowfall has begun at the sacred shrine of Baba Kedar. Amidst biting cold and challenging geographical conditions, the resolve to ensure security remains unwavering. In Kedarnath Dham—where temperatures are plummeting below freezing and snowfall is continuous—personnel from the Rudraprayag Police and the ITBP are discharging their duties with utmost vigilance.
Deployed in the Kedarnath Dham area, these personnel are maintaining a round-the-clock vigil to uphold security arrangements, undeterred by the adverse weather. Despite the snow and cold, the morale and spirit of service among the troops remain undiminished. Working with limited resources and under arduous conditions, they continue to perform their duties with a profound sense of responsibility. Superintendent of Police Niharika Tomar remarked that the dedication and devotion to duty displayed by the Police and ITBP personnel deployed in a remote and extremely cold region like Kedarnath Dham are truly commendable. She noted that, despite the harsh weather and challenging circumstances, the personnel are performing their duties with complete alertness and dedication—serving as an inspiration to all.
SP Niharika Tomar further stated that the police remain fully alert and prepared to ensure that security arrangements within the shrine area remain robust in the days ahead. The personnel remain steadfastly committed to their duties under all circumstances.
It is worth noting that the Uttarakhand Meteorological Department has issued an alert for light to moderate rainfall across the state’s hilly districts. Snowfall is anticipated at altitudes exceeding 3,500 meters in these mountainous regions. In the plains, there is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in several locations.
The Meteorological Department has forecast isolated rainfall in the Uttarakhand districts of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh. Additionally, the department has warned of the possibility of gusty winds (reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h) accompanying the rain, thunderstorms, and lightning. For which the Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert.
