Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the minority scholarship scam. Additional Director General of Police (Crime and Law and Order) Dr. V Murugeshan has issued an order in this regard.
All the senior Superintendents of Police of the state will be members of the SIT headed by Inspector General of Police (Crime and Law and Order). Apart from this, the official officer of the Minority Welfare Department nominated by the government, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Crime and Police Headquarters) will be members. This team will be able to take the help of other personnel as per its discretion.
It is known that 92 institutions came under the radar in the case of minority scholarship scam in the state. In the investigation conducted through the district administration, irregularities were confirmed in 17 institutions. After this, the Minority Welfare Department had talked about re-verification of the institutions that came under the purview of investigation
