In Uttarakhand, during the mapping process that has begun before the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR), do not be intimidated if the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) visit your home and ask you questions. The more easily you provide them with your information, the smoother the process of filling out your enumeration form will be once the SIR begins.
Following the instructions of Chief Electoral Officer Dr. BVRC Purushottam, pre-SIR activities are currently underway across the state. Under this process, BLOs are going door-to-door to collect information from voters regarding their voting status in 2003. In many places across the state, voters are either hesitant or afraid to answer the BLOs’ questions. The Election Officer’s office has appealed to the public not to panic. Currently, you only need to provide the BLOs with information regarding your voting status in 2003; you do not need to provide any documents.
Don’t worry if you couldn’t provide the information during the mapping
Many voters are worried that they were unable to provide information about their 2003 vote when the BLOs came to ask them. They need not worry. The SIR has not yet started in the state; only mapping is being done. You can provide that information along with your enumeration form once the SIR begins. According to the Election Officer’s office, the emphasis is on making the SIR activity completely voter-friendly.
It would be better to prepare the following:
– If your vote in 2003 was in Uttarakhand or any other state, the voter list is available on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer of that state. You can search for your name there and keep a printout of the voter list with you.
– If you did not vote in 2003, obtain information about your parents’ voter list and keep a printout of it. -If your mother’s, father’s, or your own voter information is not available, please keep any one of the 12 documents prescribed by the Election Commission (Aadhaar card, passport, driving license, PAN card,
Government/semi-government office identity card, student identity card from an educational institution, electricity, water or telephone (landline/mobile) bill, bank/post office passbook with address mentioned, ration card, rent agreement, housing allotment letter/proof of residence issued by a government department, gas connection receipt or book)
