Two days of route diversions in preparation for President Draupadi Murmu’s visit caused inconvenience to travelers from the district and the hilly districts. Traffic on the highway and internal roads was halted an hour before the VVIP’s arrival. Heavy vehicles bound for the hills were routed via Ramnagar, while vehicles bound for the Kainchi Dham route were diverted via Ramgarh via Kwarbh in the morning.
After the President’s fleet departed from 2:30 pm to 4 pm on Tuesday, long queues formed in the city, as well as in Kathgodam, Gulabghati, and Ranibagh. Vehicles were stopped at barriers for a considerable time after the fleet departed. Police personnel were deployed at various locations along the highway from Haldwani to Nainital.
The shortcomings identified in traffic management will be improved in the future. Feedback will be sought from the TI and traffic police personnel.
Passengers were troubled by the traffic jam.
Due to President Draupadi Murmu’s arrival at Kainchi Dham on Tuesday, the police administration diverted traffic, causing inconvenience to passengers. Passengers arriving from Almora, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, and Dharchula were sent from Kwarbh via Nathuwakhan-Ramgarh to Bhawali and then to Haldwani. This forced passengers to travel an additional distance. Passengers were also troubled by the lack of roadways and KEMU buses on the road. Pramod Singh and Rajendra Kumar of the area said that traffic diversions due to VIP events cause problems. Passengers faced inconvenience on Tuesday as well.
