In Uttarakhand, teachers suffering from serious illnesses or those who have been absent for a prolonged period will be granted compulsory retirement. Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat has issued directives to the Directorate General of Education to provide a list of such teachers.
The Education Minister stated that, upon receipt of the list of such teachers and staff members, action will be taken—based on the recommendations of a Medical Board and a departmental committee—to grant them compulsory retirement. The Education Minister had issued similar directives to departmental officials last year as well; however, amidst the transfer process, officials were unable to identify specific teachers for compulsory retirement within a department that otherwise appeared to have an abundance of teachers listed as ill. Consequently, no action could be taken against such teachers at that time.
**List of Attached Teachers in Schools and Offices Sought**
Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat has also sought a list of teachers and officials currently attached to various schools and offices. He directed that this list be submitted to the Directorate General of Education within one week. It has been reported that many teachers are not only attached to schools or offices other than their original place of posting, but some are also currently working in entirely different departments
